Sleat Community Trust (SCT) was formed in 2003 to support sustainable economic, environmental and social development in Sleat. SCT began considering the potential for a renewable energy development in Tormore Forest for the community hydro project.
Following a very successful community share launch, Green Energy Mull, raised over £450,000 towards the creation of the first community owned hydroelectric scheme on Isle of Mull.

Sunart Community Renewables was established in 2014 by a local charity, Sunart Community Company, to fundraise, construct and operate a micro hydro-electric scheme on the remote Westerly peninsula of Ardnamurchan.
